Non-avian dinosaurs apparently still alive!
This is not an April Fool's Day joke. This is a failing of National Geographic. Interesting article (which has appeared elsewhere on the blogosphere), but horrible, horrible headline.
Yeah, this story has been knocking around the science news outlets for several days now. The headline comes from the PI's institution's press release - what a butcher job they made of it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I hate the buzz phrase "Living Dinosaur". I well and truly hate it and always have. It's always applied in nature shows to crocodiles and Komodo dragons and I have to resist the urge to scream NOOOO! at my TV.
Zachary Miller has a BA in rhetoric from the University of Alaska, but has been studying and drawing dinosaurs since he could read and hold a crayon. He currently lives near Sand Lake in Anchorage with his wife, dog, cat, and Pooh bear.
