I recommend hopping on over to Coherent Lighthouse and having a look at Scott's new manifesto against Creationism and its ilk. One of the best rants I've read in a long time. Brings to mind our dear friend the Blue Collar Scientist (science rest his soul).

To the left is Tiktaalik rosea, a *gasp* transitional form. But I forget--there are no transitional forms.

Speaking of Sex Education...

During a recent Congress committee meeting to discuss whether abstinence education works or not, Rep. John Duncan (Tennessee-R) came forth with this little nugget:

"It seems rather elitist to me, for people who maybe have degrees in this field to feel that they - because they’ve studied it - somehow know better than the parents."

(emphasis mine)

How dare you scientists, with your fancy degrees and research, start giving advice based on studies and numbers! You elitist bastards! Maw and Paw Kettle know infinately more about human sexuality than you lab-coat-wearing doctors and psychologists!
